My favorite of the last year

Posted : 16 years, 11 months ago on 29 February 2008 09:05 (A review of Juno)

Add a great soundtrack,
funny dialog,
incredible actors
and a dark comedy about growing up(and getting knocked up on the way) together. This just has to add up to a great movie.
IMHO this woud've been a great oscar winner in the category best movie, but these kinds of movies never get the honor. At least they got it for best screenplay.

Enough ranting, just watch it, promise me ;)

Not bad at all

Posted : 16 years, 11 months ago on 29 February 2008 08:53 (A review of Michael Clayton (2007))

This economy Thriller is about an attourney at law who get's back in touch with his conscience. ....Well it's kinda about that ;)

The movie is demanding and builds slowly, so it's definitly not for everyone. But if you are in the mood for a great suspense Thriller, go and watch it.

One thing I have to add: Thanks to Robert Elswit, the Cinematographer of this movie. I've seen very few times that someone uses the possibilities of a widescreen as compelling as he did, I realy loved the looks!

Unsatisfying

Posted : 17 years ago on 12 February 2008 11:47 (A review of No Country for Old Men (2007))

These words/feelings came into my mind after the end of the movie: confusing, unsatisfying, violent and too long.

I think this movie was not realy for me, it's a lot like Fargo(which I also didn't like).
It's okay if a movie let's you think about the ending, but in this case it was just too much.

Was it a bad movie? No! There was suspense, I liked the direction and camera angels and the actors did show an awsome performance. But is it realy Oscar-worthy? In my oppinion not.

Very nice and quiet movie

Posted : 17 years ago on 5 February 2008 10:30 (A review of My Blueberry Nights)

First of all: only watch this movie if you are into these quiet movies like Lost in Translation.

Beside of that, I pretty much enjoyed the movie. The performances of Rachel Weisz and David Strathairn are short but realy intense, the rest of the cast wasn't bad either, a great debut of Norah Jones as an actress.

I've just seen the trailer of the movie and I think it sugests a totaly different movie. The trailer only shows the background story, most of the time we follow Norah Jones's journey through the country meeting some interesting characters.

Great Action Flic

Posted : 17 years ago on 5 February 2008 05:50 (A review of Shoot 'Em Up)

What should I say, just a great action movie. Even crazier than crank, but same kind of movie.

The first picture you see of this movie tells you everything about it: Close Up of Clive Owen's Face eating a carrot. I never thought it could be that cool to eat a carrot .

Great movie for everyone who loves Action movies and can cope with violence.

loved it

Thumbs up

Posted : 17 years ago on 5 February 2008 05:47 (A review of Resident Evil: Extinction)

The only movie based on a Video game that is fun to watch. ...That didn't sound like a positive thing ;)

Seriously, this is a funny zombie-action-flick. If you've seen the other two Resident evil movies you know what to expect:
A sexy Heroine sloughtering her way to the bad guy, it's fun to watch but of course nothing deep.
