Rare early 90s Teenager Movie

Posted : 15 years, 3 months ago on 11 December 2008 08:41 (A review of Pump Up the Volume)

I just love this movie, even though I'm way past my teenage years.
Of course it has its flaws, but it's also one of the best movies I know that portrait teenagers in the early 90s. The setting reminds me of "My so called life", a great TV Series also set in the early 90s.
The Soundtrack is amazing and diverse (from Leonard Cohen to the Beastie Boys) and the lead actors, Samantha Matthis and Christian Slater, deliver a spot on performance, especially Christian Slater.
Sadly there aren't many teen dramas, but this one is somewhere on the top spots.

The Family Stone review

Posted : 16 years ago on 19 March 2008 09:24 (A review of The Family Stone)

A lovely movie with an adorable cast and a great comedic timing.

It's the story of a big family which comes together for christmas and one of the sons brings his fiance to-be. The rest of the family isn't realy happy with his choice.

I think you can't make anything wrong with such a cast, this movie is absolutley worth watching.

The Last Kiss review

Posted : 16 years ago on 19 March 2008 11:19 (A review of The Last Kiss)

Great movie about the dificulties in relationships.
Even thou all these characters do sometimes horible things they are allways human and likeable. This movie did a great job at this very difficult task where they had to realy carefully cast.

A lot like Garden State but also sooo diferent, much more serious.

Great romantic comedy

Posted : 16 years ago on 19 March 2008 11:14 (A review of Dan in Real Life)

Steve Carell at his best. Extremly funny, but never too much.

It's a great movie to relax and shut down. A lot like Family Stone

Hilarious

Posted : 16 years ago on 17 March 2008 12:01 (A review of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy)

One of the funniest movies I know.

Of course the book ist better, you can't expect that a movie has all the small jokes in it that a book has.

The best thing would be to watch the movie and read all the books(there are five, so it takes a while ;)).
So happy reading!

Pure review

Posted : 16 years ago on 17 March 2008 10:18 (A review of Pure)

This one was actualy quite good. I think the best description of this movie is Requiem for a Dream from the viewpoint of a 10 years old son of a Junkie.

It's a bit weird that this movie is advertised as a Keira Knightley movie. The DVD has a big portrait of her as the coverimage, but she has only a small role(maybe 10 minutes screentime). It was made during the same time as kick it like Backham, which was her big breakthrough.

great work

Posted : 16 years ago on 16 March 2008 04:57 (A review of Identity)

Some things you can expect when you are going to watch this amazing thriller:
- a great cast with an incredible lead actor(John Cusack)
- intense story
- a twist like no other movie...well like almost no other movie :)
- a movie that you have to think about
- not realy a "shocker" thriller

And now go and watch it, and don't dare to read any other reviews, you don't want to get spoiled!

One of the better Stephen King film adap

Posted : 16 years ago on 12 March 2008 09:50 (A review of 1408)

John Cusack's character has lost his daughter and can't be scared any more. But since he writes about the scariest places in his books, he is excited to hear from the Room 1408 in a New York Hotel...

John Cusack's performance was great(as expected) and the movie wasn't just a shocker-movie, it certainly had some depth.

Not so bad for the Crime/Thriller genere

Posted : 16 years ago on 11 March 2008 11:29 (A review of Untraceable)

It's the story of an FBI agent who tries to catch a serial killer which kills his victims faster or slower depending on the visitor-counter of his Live-Stream.

I've to say that i'm impressed that this movie did not suck. I expected it to be totaly inacurate(full of technobable etc.) and to be boring but I was proven wrong.

It's actualy a nice movie to watch, not life changing but nice.

Actualy not that bad

Posted : 16 years ago on 4 March 2008 11:27 (A review of Step Up 2: The Streets)

I'm not realy a fan of these dance-movies, but this one wasn't that bad.

It's light entertainment, just the right thing to let the troubles of the day go away.
If you are into Dance moves/Hip-Hop-moves, go and watch it. There were some decent moves and great Choreography. The story is pretty much the same as every time in these kind of movies(girl gets rejected, does something and suddenly everything is great ;))
At least the girl looked good ;)
